RECAP - Perl Weekly Challenge - 069

HEADLINES

Welcome back Rage311 after the break. I hope you stay longer this time.

Walt Mankowski surprised me this week by sharing solutions in C and Python. Thanks to him, C is the new language introduced to us. I would also like to thank him for taking Python contributions closer to the magic number.

Andrew Shitov joined the gang and shared his first C++. Apart from Andrew, we have few others contributors who also contributed in C++, i.e. Adam Russell, Jaldhar H. Vyas and Ulrich Rieke. With this push C++ is the now the 3rd most popular language only behind Python and APL.

Arne Sommer is known for his Raku contributions. To me he is more into Raku than Perl. In the last few weeks, he has been regularly sharing Perl solutions, which is a bonus for all of us. Also you can’t beat the blog title he comes up with every week. It is a talent to me, very hard to acquire. I had the honour to attend his talk at The Perl Conference in Riga organised by none other than the Andrew Shitov and his team. It was this event, I had the pleasure to meet Andrew Shitov in person for the first time. One evening, after the team dinner, I had very long conversation with him. I am not sure if he remembers that. If I am not mistaken then Laurent Rosenfeld also joined the conversation later.

I would like to share a very unique quality of Andrew that I wasn’t aware earlier until I came across the ‘A Language a Day’ — Advent Calendar 2019. The reason I said unique is because I have never heard of Advent Calendar like this before. I also did the regular Advent Calendar - 2019 last year showing the talent of Team PWC. Personally I know how hard to do regular one, you can imagine how much effort he must have put in to get it done. I am a big fan of him.

There is one bit that I always wanted to talk about but never got around it. Today I am going to share with the team. Do you know who is the first member to share the solution? And I am not talking about one or two week. If my memory serves me better, few names comes first and they are Javier Luque and Luca Ferrari. I don’t even get time to settle down after releasing the weekly challenge, I already have the solutions in my inbox. They have been doing consistently for many weeks. I have lost the count. It is so inspiring to have such active members. Now Andrew Shitov, who seems to be early riser, also firing with his work before my Monday morning tea.

I would like to stop talking now and let you go through rest of the interesting facts.
